Valuable Time Management Lessons from Jensen Huang

In June 2024, Nvidia was recognized as the most valuable company in the world. This IT giant produces graphic processors, AI chips, and software. Among its clients are Apple, Microsoft, and Tesla. Nvidia's growth is driven by the high demand for AI chips, and the current company valuation is $3.34 trillion. Since the beginning of 2024, its stock price has nearly doubled. The company is led by Jensen Huang, who founded it in 1993 along with Chris Malachowsky.

Key Lessons from Huang

Passion for Your Work

Jensen Huang shared a story that sounds more like a parable but is no less valuable for that. He recounted meeting a gardener in Japan who was tending to the famous moss garden in Kyoto. The gardener said he had been doing this for 25 years and never rushed because when you work thoughtfully and with love, you have enough time for everything.

Huang emphasizes that loving what you do is crucial. When you dedicate yourself to a lifelong pursuit, there will never be a lack of time for it.

Setting Priorities

In the gardener's words, Huang heard the core principle of productivity—prioritization. For the gardener, the garden was his top priority, and he devoted all his time to it. “I start every morning with my most important work,” says Huang. To feel in control of your time, you need to clearly understand what is most important to you. Start your day with the most critical tasks.

The 3-3-3 Method by Oliver Burkeman

Oliver Burkeman, author of “Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals,” suggests the following method:

•    Spend three hours on your most important project, defining a specific goal for the day.

•    Complete three smaller tasks, including urgent matters and those you might not enjoy (like calls and meetings).

•    Dedicate time to three “maintenance tasks”—add notes to your planner, organize your email, and plan the next day.

Use these principles to improve your time management and boost your productivity.
